Individual Virtual Somatic Experiencing Therapy & Training

Individual Virtual Somatic Experiencing Psychotherapy

Somatic Experiencing is a method of releasing stress and trauma that gets “stuck” in the body. SE utilizes the latest research on the connection between the brain and the body. When we become stressed by an overwhelming life event, a traumatic incident, or a mentally tough situation, our brains tell our bodies to either run, fight, or freeze, otherwise known as fight/flight/freeze. This is a helpful survival mechanism, but trauma can cause people to get ‘stuck’ in fight, flight, or freeze.

Somatic Experiencing is perfect for anyone who can't regulate their nervous system, meaning anyone who gets stuck in anxiety, stress, or hypervigilance. I've worked with everyone from children getting kicked out of preschool, to teens who've been raped, to those feeling the traumatic effects of dental surgery. The great news is, anyone can use it, and just about everyone can benefit from it.

People come to see me because they are overwhelmed. They've tried rationally talking themselves out of their feelings, but it's just not working. Because research shows that talking about things isn't necessarily helpful, what's most effective is being able to experience and move through your feelings.

My job is to help clients move out of their paralysis or "frozen" state. I teach people practical SE skills they can use to calm their bodies and regulate their nervous system so they can get back in touch with their whole brain.

Somatic Experiencing is perfect for anyone who:
   •    Wants to learn to manage overwhelming emotions or anxiety
   •    Overcome physical and mental trauma
   •    Wants to feel more empowered and less 'stuck'

The cost of individual somatic experiencing psychotherapy is $200 per 50-minute session.

I had done 'traditional' therapy before and really enjoyed it. But there were many times when I just couldn't calm down. I'd get really upset or overwhelmed and would hyperventilate and not know what to do. Practicing Somatic Experiences with Candy helped me realize that I couldn't 'talk myself out' of my feelings. My reaction wasn't rational, it was a trauma response. Candy taught me how to treat it as a physical issue that requires physical grounding. Her approach changed everything. I can finally calm down. I still think about her words of wisdom almost a decade later. I wish I'd found SE sooner.

Somatic Experiencing Consultations & Training for Students & Professionals

I’ve been a student of Somatic Experiencing for over 20 years and have trained and assisted all over the world. I love providing help and advice for any level of Somatic Experiencing and helping you build your SE credits.

I offer both personal and case consultation focused on deepening skills and integrating relational healing. You'll learn how to become more present and deepen your capacity to support yourself and the people you work with. Together we'll explore how SE can help people move past stuckness, chaos, and rigidity and move into relational flow, connection, and healing.

I also love sharing my advanced SE knowledge of using touch, movement, and rhythm. I was lucky enough to have trained with and assisted Kathy Kain and Steve Terrell.

I've also done a deep dive into Polyvagal Theory with Deb Dana. I'd love to help you build a clear understanding of Polyvagal theory and practice and how you can integrate them with SE.

My current passion is weaving in Relational Life Skills and Internal Family Systems (IFS) into SE.

Come learn with me! I'd love to share my passion for this work!

She was the first person who showed me all of the things about the therapy that I now practice. She believed in me enough to push me past my edges and for me to challenge what I thought were my limits. But she also knew when to not push. When to encourage, validate, and support. She knew how to perfectly balance holding the space and pushing the edges. I think a good mentor isn’t just someone who meets you where you are, but someone who can show you possibilities of a path that you never even thought possible for yourself.
